About the event

Have you ever wished you could relive the fun of childhood book fairs?

This is your chance!

A weekend of books and creativity featuring author talks, hands-on arts and crafts workshops, catered meals, campfires, and more!

September 13-15, 2024 at Kentland Retreat Center in Mechanicsburg, PA

Cost includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, snacks, all listed activities and supplies, a gift bag of items from local businesses, and a weekend long scavenger hunt with prizes.

*Optional overnight accommodations are available on a first come, first serve basis, at no extra charge. These are shared dorm-style acommodations. There are two full bathrooms with showers. Overnight space is not guaranteed and is very limited so register early.

This retreat is adult-only. 

Here is the weekend itinerary: (*This is subject to change but participants are guaranteed that in the unlikely event of a schedule change, substitute activities of equal or greater value will be put in place. )

Heart and Soul Books will be set up as a book seller all weekend.

Presenting authors and artisits will have their artwork and books set up for sale well.  

Friday 4:30-5:30 check-in and receive gift bags 

5:30-6:30 BBQ dinner 

6:30-8:30 painting class with Jessica Pietro/Vellichor and More 

8:30 campfire, snacks, and author talk with author Ashley Cecelia Meyer  

Saturday 9-10 check-in and breakfast 

10-12 watercolor class with Hannah Smolensky/Owlfeathers Watercolor 

12-1 lunch and book talk with author Leta Hawk 

1-2 and 2-3 wood burning class with Renee Foskett Wilson/It's David and Renee (group will be divided into two classes) 

3-5 intentional reading spaces talk with interior designer with Rachel Andreoli/Interior Intuition  

5-6 dinner 

6-8 True Crime talk with Corine Wherley/The Curious Chronicler 

8 campfire and snacks  

Sunday 9-10 check-in and breakfast 

10-12 macrame class with Lyndsey Parry/Why Knot 

12-1 lunch 

1-3 "Writing Your Truth. Fictionalizing your life story as a mode for healing." with author and publisher Abigail Wild/Wild Ink Publishing 

3-5 cookie decorating with Eve Baum/Beehive Cookie Company 

5:00- 5:30 scavenger hunt prizes awarded/end of retreat
