Service Description
In this beginner friendly class, you will learn the basics of shibori dyeing. Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique used on textiles to creates patterns that spread unevenly across the fabric. You will learn some of the history of shibori dyeing while experimenting with folding, twisting, binding, and tying fabric to create unique resist patterns. Indigo dye is often done with indigo dye, however due to the time involved in processing indigo dye, in this class will use fabric dye. You’ll leave the class with a beautiful, hand-dyed piece of cotton fabric that will be suitable for framing or for using to embellish other textiles. This class is best suited for participants age 13 and older. Cold water and hot tea are always available. You are welcome to BYOB and snacks.
